Last year, Omega re-designed their ionic Seamaster Diver 300m, giving it a fresh new look that takes the tried-and-true aesthetic of the collection, and re-imagines its signature design traits for a fresh (yet familiar) take on their classic professional diver's watch. For 2019, Omega is building upon their re-designed Seamaster collection, adding a sleek new version made from black ceramic and titanium.
More than Just New MaterialsThe re-designed Seamaster Diver 300m that was announced last year brought with it an increased case size (now 42mm), a new movement (the Caliber 8800), a new generation of helium escape valve (which remains water resistant even while open), and a ceramic dial and bezel insert. While the new black ceramic and titanium Seamaster Diver 300m (reference: 210.92.44.20.01.001) is very much the same fake watch that Omega unveiled last year, it does differ from the rest of the collection in a number of notable ways, making it far more than just an instance of the manufacturer using new materials on an old watch.
In addition to now being constructed from black ceramic, the case of the new Seamaster Diver 300m has also seen an increase in size to 43.5mm in diameter. The caseback for the fake watch is made from grade 5 titanium, and uses Omega's Naiad Lock system, which guarantees that the engravings on the caseback will always stay perfectly aligned. Additionally, the bezel is also craft from grade 5 titanium, and features a black ceramic insert with a diving scale in white enamel (similar to those found on the replica watches in the core collection).
One of the biggest changes to accompany the re-designed Seamaster Diver 300m from last year is its dial, which is constructed from ceramic with the Seamaster's trademark "wave pattern?engraved into its surface. On the new ceramic and titanium Seamaster, the dial is made from brushed black ceramic; however the wave pattern is raised from the surface, creating a unique "positive relief?effect.
And the Date Window is GonePossibly the biggest difference between the new ceramic and titanium Seamaster Diver 300m and the replica watches that make up the core collection is the lack of a date window on the new model. While the replica watches in the core collection are powered by Omega's Caliber 8800 movement and feature date windows at the 6 o'clock location, the new black ceramic and titanium version does away with the date display entirely, and receives Omega's Master Chronometer Caliber 8806 movement, which proudly sits on display through the watch's sapphire caseback.
Rather than pairing it with a matching ceramic bracelet, Omega has chosen to fit their new ceramic and titanium Seamaster Diver 300m with an integrated black rubber strap, which features a matching black ceramic buckle. Omega's newly re-designed Seamaster Diver 300m collection offers a lot of value for the money, and combines the classic aesthetic of the Seamaster with thoroughly modern materials and a state-of-the-art movement. The new ceramic and titanium variation takes this concept one step further, and will likely be a fake watch that a lot of individuals want to check out in person, once it starts showing up at authorized retailers this spring.
